TOPIC 8: Sending Hand-Written Letters Through TextBehind®
If the correctional facility where your loved one is located required for you to send your hand-written letters, documents and other physical contents to TextBehind®, please visit their website for mailing policy information and see the TextBehind® applicable address to send your mailings to. TextBehind® is contracted by a growing list of correctional facilities and there are multiple P.O. Boxes for various institutions and states.
To educate inmates about the new mailing policy, educational posters are located across many areas of the prison facility. They’re also given an informational sheet explain all details of this new mail policy.
If you’re visiting the prison facility, you can find TextBehind® educational brochures in the visiting rooms, address information and other mail policy details are provided on the brochures.
Your address must be in the following format:
INMATE FULL NAME – INMATE ID NUMBER
CORRECTIONAL INSTITUTION NAME
P.O. BOX ###
PHOENIX, MD 21131
Therefore, an example of correct address format can be:
|FROM ADDRESS:||Front side of the envelope|
123 Main St
Silver Spring, MD 20902
|John Smith - #123456
One Correctional Institution
P.O. Box 123
Phoenix, MD 21131
Any mailings with incorrect address format or incomplete information will be rejected.
Please note that after TextBehind processing, original physical mail contents are shredded and cannot be recovered after 30 days of receipt. If you've sent any mail with sentimental value such as drawings, please notify us as soon as possible at firstname.lastname@example.org and request original by mail.
